My five:
1. Joey x Mai from Yu-Gi-Oh! DM
2. John x Vriska from Homestuck
3. Doctor x Rose from Doctor Who
4. Link x Midna from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
5. Arcee x Jack from Transformers: Prime
1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 5? Honestly, I shipped them pretty early on. Not sure if it was episode 1 but it wasn't long thereafter. A few episodes later in season 1 that focused on the two of them cemented it for me.
2. Have you ever read a fan fiction about 2? But of course.
3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/tumblr ID? No, but I have an art of them that I bought at a con hanging on the wall of my bedroom! I'm looking at it right now :3
4. If 3 were to suddenly break up today, what would your reaction be? I haven't actually watched far enough into DW yet to see how that happens, but I know Rose doesn't stay in the show indefinitely. I'm already sad about this. Their scene at the end of season 1 made me cry. ;_;
5. Why is 1 so important? This is actually my first real "otp", at least since learning what "otp" meant. It was around the time I started getting into online fandom. This will always be one of my biggest ships, and one of the most important to me, even if I go for a long time without paying as much attention to YGO as I used to. They give me many feels ;-;
6. Is 4 a funny ship or a serious ship? Serious.
7. Out of all your ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry? Joey and Mai, with maybe Link and Midna a close second. But they all do to an extent. JohnVris and Arcee x Jack have maybe a little less/muted because of differences in species, size, biology, and (in the case of JohnVris) the fact that they don't meet in person until one of them is dead.
8. Of all the ships, which ship has the strongest bond? Tie between Doctor x Rose and Link x Minda, because of the way they travel together and bond in canon before ever seeing each other romantically.
9. How many times have you read/watched 2’s fandom? haha, I've only gone all the way through it once. I'm not up for a Homestuck re-read right now.
10. Which ship lasted the longest? None of these ships are canon from what I've seen, though Doctor x Rose is at least pseudo-canon and you can make a good case for John x Vriska and Joey x Mai as well. But none of them have been together and happy for years in their canon or anything. That's what headcanon and fanfic are for :B
11. How many times, if ever, has 5 broken up? They were never together, not even implied. After the first time they interacted she tried to ditch him for his own protection and for the secrecy of her and the other Autobots' identity, but that didn't work out, so now they spend quite a bit of time together and that hasn't hinted at changing (at least from what I've seen - I'm way behind on this show).
12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 1 or 3? haha, well the Doctor is definitely smarter and more resourceful than either Joey or Mai. But actually both of those ships have faced circumstances very similar to "zombie apocalypse" in canon, and Joey and Mai made it out unscathed (Mai lost her soul a couple of times, and Joey once, but they got them back) whereas the Doctor ended up having to regenerate. So I guess it's a tie.
13. Did 4 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason? Actually this is an interesting question because kind of yes, even though they weren't ~together in canon. Midna had to hide who she was from everyone for a long time, including Link, and hid in his shadow so others couldn't see her. If people found out that she was a Twili and she and Link had a relationship there might be some general unrest, and in fact this is part of the fanfic I've been writing about them.
14. Is 5 still together? They never were in canon, but in my head they are!
15. Is 1 canon? It's very strongly hinted at, and it was clearly deliberate, but because YGO's target audience is basically boys under the age of twelve and romance is ~gross~ and definitely not interesting to that audience it was never actually made canon. I pick it up where the show left off, though!
16. If all five ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win? That honestly depends on where they were in canon at the time and what tools they have access to. Even the Doctor isn't invincible and his main weapon is his brain; if it came to a face-to-face melee death match with the other characters and they were properly armed, he might not make it, and Rose is probably the least combatively capable person in the entire list. Joey and Mai would only have a chance if they were able to use their duel monsters cards as weapons and allies rather than just holograms - they'd need a spiritual connection to the World of Monsters to do that. Arcee could probably beat anyone else on that list down in a fight with no external factors, but Jack couldn't do much except be an extra pair of eyes for her, ride her in her alt mode and maybe shoot a gun if he had one. He's about as capable as Rose but maybe a bit more adaptable. Link would beat anyone one-on-one except Arcee because of his physical fitness and prowess with weapons, and Midna's got her Fused Shadow and various powers of shadow magic. The real wildcard here is John and Vriska. If they both had their god-tier powers, my money would be on them over all other couples. Vriska has super luck, flight, and her dice which can pretty much produce any weapon; she's also fit and physically capable. John would have all the powers of the wind at his command, and could maybe even cripple Arcee with that. And he has his Warhammer which packs a very mean punch.
17. Has anyone ever tried to sabotage 5’s ship? Define "sabotage"? TF:P doesn't have any canon ships unless you count one implied one between two humans and not involving either of those two characters (again, to my knowledge, so far). A lot of people like to ship Arcee with other characters, but she's not nearly as popular as a bicycle (which is funny since she's actually a motorcycle, haha) as others such as Starscream and Optimus.
18. Which ship(s) would you defend to the death and beyond? I won't ship Joey or Mai with other characters. Actually I prefer not to ship any of those guys with other characters (with the exception of other quadrants for the Homestuck one, and the fact that I love reading fics about almost all pairings in that fandom) but that first one is the one I'm firmest on. However, I don't really like to fight with people about ships. Ship and let ship, ya know?
19. Have you ever spent hours a day going through 3’s tumblr page? I really don't spend that much time on Tumblr lmao.
20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of the five ships to break up forever, which ship would you sink? Either Doctor x Rose (because I know it's not going to be canon, and because the Doctor is basically immortal and will probably be with other people throughout his lifetime) or Arcee x Jack because I'm not as invested in that one as I am in the other four.
